Ready for another dining option on Rhode Island Avenue NE? Looks like Bergami’s Pizza is headed our way, and will be opening at Rhode Island Row sometime next spring. Owner Mark Bergami is from New Haven, so he’ll be bringing that extra New Haven pizza magic to RIA. Check out the Washington City Paper article for more details, and check out the menu, below. Ready for some caffeine-infused happiness? FoRIA is excited to welcome Zeke’s Coffee of DC to their future home at 2300 RIA-NE! The small batch roastery is a favorite at many farmers markets and retailers across the region. Owner and DC resident, John Kepner, says they will be roasting and serving a wide selection of coffees at the in-house “coffee lab.” And yes, outdoor seating is in the plans! Starting in the early summer of this year, 2008 Rhode Island Avenue NE in Woodridge will be the newest home to Capoeira DC! The description from their website sounds fantastic: “CapoeiraDC (Capoeira Malês DC) is a community-run nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira in the nation’s capital through classes, community outreach and access, and youth development. Capoeira is a unique blend of martial arts, dance, and music that evolved from the vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture. Under the tutelege of Instrutor Morcego and Mestre Curisco of Capoeira Malês in Seattle, WA, CapoeiraDC is a dedicated community of capoeiristas who practice the Afro-Brazilian art of Capoeira.” We’ll have MUCH more information about their opening date and other related events soon, so stay tuned!
